Weather Video: Complicated set up means big dry areas + big downpours with thunder

Filed in:
The next week ahead is complicated weatherwise due to a large area of high pressure moving in but caught within it all is an area of low pressure. This means winds won’t be overly strong but it does mean moisture plus daytime heating equals afternoon downpours.

Some of these downpours will be quite heavy and slow moving and may bring a risk of localised flash flooding.

Thunderstorms are also expected.

The bulk of this weather will be inland but some may drift to the coastlines. We also have some drizzly, colder than average weather for some in the east of the South Island but it’s mostly dry in the Deep South.
