VIDEO: The tropics wake up again next week north of NZ + a Tasman Sea low forms this weekend

While high pressure is dominating New Zealand right now low pressure is forming to our north, west and south over the coming week.

Wednesday sees a cooler sou’west change for the lower South Island but most other parts of New Zealand have warmer than average sub-tropical northerly quarter breezes.

This weekend low pressure forms in the Tasman Sea and should create rain clouds that eventually end up crossing parts of NZ from the west.

Meanwhile mid-next week we may have a sub-tropical low reaching northern NZ while a potentially tropical cyclone deepens in the Coral Sea off Queensland’s coast.
