Video: Deep low for NZ this weekend + track Hurricane Irma

Filed in:

A very deep low is approaching New Zealand on Saturday but will rapidly weaken as we head into Sunday.

It will bring more rain to the western side of both islands with perhaps the bulk of the rain crossing much of the North Island.

Gale force winds are expected around Southland and Otago for a time as the low comes in, but the winds will turn colder southerly later in the day with Sunday and Monday much cooler across New Zealand due to the southerly flow. We also take a look at Hurricane Irma, still Category 5 when we recorded this video and is likely to have a direct hit on Florida later on Sunday or into Monday NZT.
