VIDEO: Cyclone Pola skirts past northern NZ + next week looks hotter for many

Severe Cyclone Pola is close to New Zealand to our north east but is unlikely to get a lot closer due to a powerful high pressure system building over the country.

The high is with us for all of next week and will help encourage warmer westerlies and later warmer sub-tropical winds to both islands, pushing temperatures into the mid to late 20s, maybe even reaching 30 for some.

While March 1st is the first day of Autumn on the Meteorological Calendar summer weather can continue throughout the month of March, although we do expect the Southern Ocean to become more stormy in the weeks ahead. We take a look at the next week of weather in the NZ area...
