Monday’s national forecast

A ridge covers the South Island today bringing mainly settled and sunny weather for most. The North Island has a southeasterly airflow bringing cloudy skies to the east and north of the island with precipitation in certain areas.

Northland
Mostly cloudy with showers for the southern half of the region, easing in the evening and becoming more restricted to the eastern coastline.
Highs: 15-16

Auckland

Cloudy areas with some rain, mainly in the north. Southeasterly
winds. Expect more persistent rain on the Coromandel, then easing evening.
Highs: 16

Bay Of Plenty

Morning cloudy areas with the chance of a shower about then clearing, a few sunny spells break through in the afternoon.
Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 17

Waikato & Central North Island

Areas of cloud, mainly morning with the chance of a morning shower about
northern Waikato. Mostly sunny in the afternoon with high cloud. Southeasterly
winds.
Highs: 13-16

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with southeasterly winds, mainly dry about the Wairarapa
although there could be a light shower about. A few drizzle patches about Hawkes
Bay and rain at times Gisborne northwards.
Highs: 14-16

Western North Island

Mainly sunny with a few clouds about, east to southeast winds.
Highs: 16

Wellington

Mostly sunny with light east to southeast breezes.
High: 14

Nelson

Sunny with light winds.
High: 14

Marlborough

Mostly sunny with light winds, tending southeast about the Sounds.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury

Sunny with light winds.
High: 12

West Coast

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 12-13

Coastal Otago

Sunny spells with light westerlies.
High: 13

Central Otago

Mostly sunny with light winds, frosty morning and night.
Highs: 6-8

Southland

Any early showers clear, sunny spells gradually increase. Westerly
winds.
High: 13
