Every part of NZ warmer than average for Sunday (+2 Maps)

Filed in:

A departing high pressure system, increasing west to north west winds and sub-tropical breezes will all today combine to make a warmer than average day in every part of NZ.

The large high pressure system that dominated our weather for all of last week slips off the country over the coming day or two. As it does so it pulls down a sub-tropical airflow and even though incredibly light it is combining with an Australian westerly flow to push temperatures up above normal by day.

However the colder than average nights continue for some regions, especially in the north where the high is still holding on with mostly light winds and clearer skies (apart from the ground fog).
