Alice feels the chill

Filed in:

A high pressure system over southern Australia is directing cool and dry southwesterly winds over the Red Centre and Top End reducing humidity and dropping temperatures.

The cooler temperatures have been most noticeable in the south. Last night Alice Springs fell to 6 degrees, their coolest night since September last year and 5 degrees cooler than the previous evening. This minimum was 3 degrees below average and is a taste of things to come. The dry season brings cooler winds and clear nights that can allow temperatures to fall close to zero.

Daytime temperatures have also taken a knock with Alice Springs struggling to only 21 degrees today, two below the monthly average.
