Wednesday’s national forecast

South to southeasterly winds lie over the lower North Island today while winds come in from the northeast for the upper half. East to southeasterly winds over much of the South Island. A fairly cloudy day for much of the country with many regions seeing some rain or showers during the course of the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas with morning southeasterly breezes then swinging to the north by midday. Cloud builds from midday with isolated showers moving in then clearing in the evening. Showers may be heavy for some with the chance of a thunderstorm.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Chance of some early sun then cloud builds, the odd shower from mid morning then rain and possibly heavy falls develops.
Highs: 26-30
 
Eastern North Island
Areas of cloud and some sun with northeasterly breezes, a few isolated showers at times possibly heavy in the afternoon then easing evening. Southerly winds up till about Southern Hawkes Bay, northeasterly winds north of that.
Highs: 24-25
 
Wellington
A few early sunny areas then southerlies freshen by mid morning bringing increasing cloud, some rain from early to mid afternoon.
High: 19
 
Nelson & Marlborough
Cloudy with southeasterly winds freshening from morning about Marlborough, chance of a light drizzle patch about otherwise mainly dry. Nelson sees a few morning showers then clearing, remaining mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds from afternoon.

Canterbury
Cloudy with spells of rain or drizzle, southerly winds
High: 15
 
West Coast
Mainly cloudy with the odd shower, some rain Hokitika northwards which eases in the evening. East to southeast winds.
Highs: 19-20
 
Otago & Southland
A mostly cloudy day with breezy east to southeasterly winds, chance of a drizzle patch mainly morning. Coastal Otago may see drizzle at times throughout the day.
Highs: 12-15

Hey guys, just a heads up for the Eastern North Island forecast: We have had heavy rain all morning, no sunny spells??  JUst thought id mention it 🙂
