A ridge for most of New Zealand today spreading out from a large anticyclone in the Tasman Sea.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mainly sunny with gentle southerly winds. Cloud builds a little this evening with the low risk of a shower. Some cloud about western Northland during today with the odd shower possible.

Highs: 20-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, Taranaki is mainly sunny from this morning. Southeasterly winds.

Highs: 16-19

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with the odd shower, especially about Gisborne. Cool southerly winds.

Highs: 16-17

Wellington

Cloud with the chance of a shower then breaking to sunny spells this afternoon, southeasterly winds ease later on.

Highs: 15-16

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning cloud (chance of a light shower about Nelson) then breaking to sunny spells, afternoon easterly winds about Marlborough.

Highs: 16-17

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, afternoon east to northeast winds.

Highs: 15-16

West Coast

A mix of sun and cloud with light winds, chance of an afternoon shower about Buller.

Highs: 15-18

Southland & Otago

Any morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, light winds.

Highs: 14-15
