An anticyclone brings mainly settled conditions to New Zealand today, however, ENE winds become gusty about the east coast of the South Island this afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny with southwesterly winds, afternoon sea breezes for Northland and the Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 22-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with light winds, tending onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-22

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon east to northeasterly breezes.
Highs: 20-22

Wellington

Mainly sunny with light winds.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with east to northeasterly winds freshening in the afternoon. Afternoon northerlies about Nelson.
Highs: 21-22

Canterbury

Sunny with east to northeasterly winds developing in the afternoon, becoming brisk to strong about the coast then easing later in the evening.
Highs: 17-20

West Coast

Mostly sunny with light west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-22

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, west to northwesterly breezes. East to northeasterly winds freshen from afternoon about coastal Otago.
