Temperature range across the country this afternoon

It's a mild afternoon for many regions as a high brings mostly settled, sunny weather to the country.

In Auckland a band of cloud since this morning has shrouded the eastern half of the city in cloud while western suburbs remain sunny.

Temperatures are between 23 and 25 across Auckland with a 21 to 24 degree spread across Northland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty.

Conditions are dry in Gisborne and Napier, and mild, with a temperature around 19 and 20.

Taupo and Hawera have 18 but New Plymouth is on 23.

20s and 21s cover the rest of the North Island except Wellington where a cool and rare sou'wester has the temperatre on 16.

The spread across the South Island is similar with most northern and eastern regions between 17 and 21 this hour. 

Further inland and it's hot again with Wanaka on 26.

Invercargill has a south easter and 16 degrees.
