Saturday’s national forecast

Low pressure sits west of the country today meanwhile a large high sits out to the east, both systems combine to direct a northeasterly airflow over New Zealand.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, chance of a shower mainly in the morning about eastern coastal fringes. The odd shower affects Northland for much of the day moving in from the east.
Highs: 24-25

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 24-27

Eastern North Island
Sunny areas and some high cloud, east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 23-24

Wellington
A mix of sun and cloud with light Northerly winds.
High: 24

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny about Marlborough with some high cloud, north to northwesterly winds. Nelson sees any early showers clear then sunny spells develop, winds from the north.
Highs: 23-27

Canterbury
Sunny spells, a few showers or spots of rain for inland then perhaps nearer the coast late afternoon / evening. East to Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 23-26

West Coast
Areas of rain, may be a heavy fall at times. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-24

Southland & Otago
Sunny spells for Southland, may be a shower late afternoon / evening. Light easterly winds. Otago sees cloudier skies although some sun may still break through at times, patchy rain now and then clearing in the evening.
Highs: 22-25
