A ridge brings mainly settled weather to the South Island today while the North Island has a southerly airflow with a few showers in the east, mainly sunny out west.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny, Northland in the east sees a few morning coastal showers clear. South to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy closer to the ranges in the east with a few morning showers clearing away, towards the coast in the west conditions are mostly sunny after any morning cloud breaks away. South to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-13

Eastern North Island

Showers, clearing around midnight. Breezy cold southerly winds for most although strong southerlies for Gisborne gale about the coast ease from evening.
Highs: 11-12

Wellington

Morning showers clear then sunny spells develop, southerlies ease.
High: 11

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, southerly winds tending easterly in the afternoon for Marlborough. Nelson may see light northerlies in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury

Sunny after a frosty start. Light winds tending east to northeast near the coast in the afternoon.
Highs: 12-13

West Coast

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 13-15

Southland & Otago

Sunny after a frost start. Light winds, tending northeast about the Otago coast in the afternoon.
High: 13
