A west to southwesterly airflow lies over most of New Zealand today while a small area of low pressure forms about the lower North Island in the east this morning. Mainly sunny in the east and cloudy out west.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas with the chance of a shower, mainly morning. Breezy southwesterly winds. Some sun, more frequent about the Bay Of Plenty.

Highs: 16-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Cloudy areas with west to northwesterly winds, chance of a shower or two otherwise mainly dry.

Highs: 16-17

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light winds in the morning tending east to northeast in the afternoon.

Highs: 17-18

Wellington

Mainly sunny with light winds.

High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with light winds tending east to northeast in the afternoon about Marlborough.

Highs: 18-19

Canterbury

Sunny with east to northeast winds in the afternoon near the coast.

High: 17

West Coast

Cloudy areas with west to southwesterly winds, chance of a shower or two about otherwise mainly dry.

High: 14

Southland & Otago

Cloudy areas about Southland with brisk westerly winds, chance of a shower or two otherwise dry. Mainly sunny elsewhere.

Highs: 13-16
