RainWatch – Friday 26th January 2018

An anticyclone covers New Zealand today, remnants from a southerly change on Thursday evening brings a mostly cloudy day for the eastern South Island.

For the upper North Island. This morning there is the risk of a light shower about Auckland then clearing away. Late afternoon / evening isolated showers develop about South Auckland, Waikato and inland Bay Of Plenty. These showers may become heavy with a risk of thunderstorms then clearing at night.

For the lower North Island conditions are mainly dry, chance of a few isolated showers about East Cape and perhaps inland Manawatu / Taranaki late afternoon or evening.

Drizzle patches for the east coast about the upper South Island, mainly this morning. Late afternoon / evening isolated showers develop about the main divide then clearing later in the evening. Showers about inland Nelson may become heavy with thunderstorms then clearing at night.

Some drizzle about the eastern lower South Island also, once again mainly this morning then dry areas becoming more frequent from afternoon. Staying mainly dry about the lower South Island from afternoon, perhaps the low risk of an isolated shower developing about some inland hills / ranges.
