John Key this is a special message for YOU !!! Listen to the PEOPLE for gods sake man otherwise Nationals not gonna make it . To be honest neither should Labour look at the mess they got us into unfortunately we face a grim reality that we may all have to vote for a smaller party in future as the ETS MUST GO !!! No more rubbish im so sick of hearing about a negative government we have . We all cant afford to pay more . We need big decent tax cuts for a start . I see businesses all around the Wellington region and probably the rest of the country really hurting now an its time that this came to a STOP many have closed down an alot of empty buildings with either for sale or lease on them. Prime Minister you must sort this out ASAP please do sometime to stop this . This country needs you help NOW !! . I voted for you because i thought you would do way better job than any other prime minister in bringin this country forward but its starting to look like you are following the same track as labour an thats just stupid . PLEASE LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE OF NEW ZEALAND good luck an hope you make the right choice as for the rest of us kiwis we need to stand up an march on parliment i feel to make our voice heard that enough is enough .

We pay their wages. Get a grip NZ and make your voices heard and stand FIRM against those that do not have any sympathy for the average working person that is and has and will struggle unless you, the people force the issue. Stand up for once and let your voices be heard or suffer the consequences.

A very cunning political move by Mr key. Introduce the ETS to keep the Green/Left voters happy then count upon the great ignorance of the many New Zealanders who believe they are paying a bit extra to actually help the environment. It seems that we who know the truth and can see through this ineffectual tool to combat climate change are collateral damage in his plans. I am utterly amazed at the number of people who are either ignorant or apathetic about this scam.

The science of Climate change has proved to be inconclusive and this has played straight into the National party's plans. It simply add's more confusion for those that do not want to research for themselves. Regardless of any scientific outcome, the ETS is totally ineffectual and will have no impact upon climate change whatsoever. I am all for saving our environment but the ETS is simply a tool to line the pockets of the few at the expense of the many.

Mr Key now wears his Green jacket for all to see. "look at me I'm friendly to the environment" while he fills the coffers with his ill gotten taxpayers money !

John Key has been a disaster. With his arrogance on the anti-smacking law, and now the ETS, he has become officially Helen Part II in my mind. I will not vote for any National MP nor the National Party itself until both he and Nick Smith are gone. Wake up, National Party, you're being destroyed from within.

We are not stupid Mr Key. This is nothing but another tax. It will not save the planet.

This is so typical National. Making the gap between rich and poor wider, putting already struggling families under more pressure and why? To line the rich mans pockets. The whole thing is truly disgusting.

Also struggling to understand how these promised tax cuts are going to benefit anyone. With the ETS, rise in GST, rise in ACC levies and care for my boy rising I'm really struggling to see how I will be better off as National say I will be. I'm no accountant or mathematician but I'm pretty sure I'll be worse off by maybe $30-$40 per week, maybe more.

John Key is urging us to admire the Emperor's new clothes. To be paid for by the new Emission Tax Scam that is only an extra $3.00 a week for the poor and needy.

Now here is a idea:

Let's all decide to go on strike on a given day: no shops open, no buses, no schools, no businesses, no nothing - we can all stay at home until the government drops this senseless idea that is hitting us hard in the middle of a recession!

I'm struggling with the idea New Zealand has gone ahead with the ETS scheme, particularly when there is mounting evidence that human activity is not affecting global temperature conditions. There are plenty of websites that can supply evidence that this may not be the case - here are a couple:

For New Zealand to lead the way in this doubtful scheme will eventually prove to the world how gullible and naive we really are. Remember this all started with Al Gore expounding his theories on anthropogenic global warming and many of his "facts" have been proven wrong. To me his preaching was a way to line his pockets, simply put.
What will the Government do with the extra taxes? I think any party who truly has New Zealand's interest at heart (and not just vote seeking) will fight against this thieving bill and go further and finance proper investigation rather than chase popular ideas.
What I'm reminded of is the old fairy tale of Chicken Licken, "The sky is falling, the sky is falling".
Don't get me wrong - I think we can all improve on energy conservation and our attitudes to "clean and green" but to actively decrease New Zealanders' standard of living for a notion that is NOT proven is bizarre to say the least.

Politicians and the media have been highjacked by the absurd notion that a harmless trace gas, an aerial fertilizer, is a pollutant. The first 30ppm do the warming, thereafter the additional warming is inconsequential. Smith and his fraudulent cronies may want another ice age. I don't. Cooling , which will happen as it is cyclical, is much more to be feared as world food production will drop. Future generations will ridicule the mania which is so evident today.

This is no 'global warming'. This is simply a natural cycle of planet Earth. Humanity does needs to be consciously aware of their polution of the earth, and that is always a good thing.
But what we are experiencing now is a natural cycle and will change again into a 'cooling cycle'. Those in power think we have bottomless pockets and can pay for whatever crazy schemes they come up with.

I regard what National has done as being very close to economic treason against the people of our country, New Zealand. The IPPC projection of catastrophic global warning is based on biased computer models. That is not science, that is speculation. The National Party has lost our family's vote after many years of support.

This is all about taking money of people and it is should not have been even started look around our Country needs cleaning up first and proper recycling here before the scam tax .The Farmers are not paying and they are the worst so they donot pay becase of votes what about china ,usa and so y2k big scam to .
Look at the railway that went down the drain and power companys telecom it was going to be cheap all big ideas i think kiwis should tell them in wellington to pull there heads in stop this tax .

As if paying a lot of money for something like so-called global warming can make the problem go away!!!! Utter rubbish only the foolish few would concoct up for us! If its wrong, why pay to be able to keep polluting? And why are Pine trees or Ecotics the only ones you can get credits for??? Probably because they're the only ones worth money when they are cut down. The whole ETS is a sham to create an income for our corrupt goverment. And they are ROTTEN to the core! The poorer people pay for the wealthy to to live rich... a disgusting thing to be happening in 2010... gee! We aren't in 1500AD now folks!!!!

There is no possible justification in making the NZ taxpayer pay for Global Warming.
Why?

Here are some of the reasons.

1. There may or may not be global warming but its not related to anthropogenic CO2. (Check out the Medieval Warm Period)
2. Even if there was Anthropogenic CO2 induced global warming, NZ is only responsible for about 0.01% of anthropogenic CO2 so we as a nation can never influence the climate.
3. If NZ wants to lead the world, if you have ever lived overseas you would know that most people dont even know where NZ is let alone accept us as a role model. We are smaller than the city of Sydney FFS!
4. In case the government does not realise it, we are still in the middle of a recession. This is not a good time to send perfectly good but currently struggling companies (and employers) to the wall or to shift their operations overseas!
5. If our trading partners do not have a similar system, why should we put ourselves at a trading disadvantage? It is laughable!
6. ETS has been introduced basically by stealth with minimal press coverage (I personally believe that is deliberate) and what appears to be the use of diversions to keep the public eye off the subject. Note the World Football Cup and the threat to mine Gt Barrier Island and the Coromandel etc. This is not honest or ethical governance of our country.
7. In the city where I live, because of the clean burning bylaws, one cannot scavenge for firewood and pinecones and the like, or use inexpensive coal and firewood for heating, therefore the ETS hits directly those on a limited budget who face in full, the electricity and petrol/diesel/gas price rises.

Its probably a world order thing ie the UN or (something else with power) uses us as a test case using a small country like the 1985-93 economic reforms.Anyway do as you are told to believe and shutup.....

The only people who really benefit from the ETS are the people involved in trading carbon credits. Do a google and you can see big profits being made by these people in UK and Europe.

The Science is NOT settled! It has been doctored so that it appears to support the opinions of those who will profit from useless carbon dioxide taxes. (I have a BSc in Geophysics). National lost my vote with this madness.

Unfortunately only one of our votes was counted - our whole family would have voted that we are absolutely AGAINST ETS. Thank you

If the Government should tax anyone, why not the polluters?

The Emissions Trading Scheme is a lot of rubbish and just another tax that we don't really need.

Global Warming has happened before. Approximately around the year 2000BC ! Apparently Global Warming is caused by the earths elliptical orbit around the Sun and of course the Earth's famous "wobble" and after many many years (approx every 4000 years) causes the Sun's rays to strike the Earth at a different angle !!

In the year 1500 AD an ancient Turkish Mariner named Peri Reis drew up a map of the South Pole WITHOUT ANY ICE ON IT !!!

Peri Reis drew his map using very very ancient maps that went back some 1000 years BC. The finished map shows the South Pole WITHOUT ANY ICE ON IT !!

NASA got to know of it and photograph the South Pole continent with special radar type equipment.

The result was that it was exactly the same as the Peri Reis map.
