Monday’s weather outlook

Anticyclonic conditions for New Zealand today, it doesn’t mean clear and sunny skies for all though. The North Island in particular sees plenty of cloud about.

A chance of some early sun this morning about western parts of the North Island then becoming mostly cloudy with East to Nor’East winds developing. The odd shower or drizzle patch moves into Auckland, Waikato and the Central North Island around midday, the Bay Of Plenty sees patchy drizzle from morning.

A chance of morning drizzle along the east coast (Gisborne to Wairarapa) then cloud breaks to the odd sunny area this afternoon, east to northeasterly winds pick up after midday. Morning cloud then increasing sunny areas for Wellington with light winds.

Sunny areas for the West Coast of the South Island then cloud increasing from afternoon, northerly winds. Morning cloud about Canterbury through to Nelson breaks away then becoming mostly sunny, east to northeast winds pick up this afternoon becoming brisk in some areas.

Mostly sunny about the lower South Island today with light winds tending onshore this afternoon about coastal areas.
