A ridge lies over the South Island today bringing mainly settled weather. Meanwhile, southeasterlies flow over the North Island, and the odd shower may affect Hawkes Bay, Gisborne and a few exposed northeastern areas.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Morning high cloud breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon, Sou’East breezes. Cloud and the odd shower possible about eastern Northland, Great Barrier Island and the Coromandel, especially in the morning.
Highs: 14-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-14

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with the odd light shower about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne, southeasterly winds.
High: 13

Wellington

Mostly sunny, perhaps some high cloud. Light winds tending easterly.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas and some high cloud, light winds.
High: 13

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light east to northeasterly breezes.
High: 11

West Coast

Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light winds. Some cloud about Fiordland from afternoon may bring some drizzle.
Highs: 11-12

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny after a frosty start, perhaps a touch of high cloud. Light winds.
Highs: 7-10
