A southwesterly airflow lies over the country today bringing a few patchy showers to most regions for a time, long dry spells too.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Periods of cloud with the odd shower at times, especially afternoon. Breezy west to southwest winds.
Highs: 22-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Periods of cloud and the odd shower at times for most although the Central
North Island may only see a shower in the afternoon. West to southwesterly
winds.
Highs: 20-21

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny this morning with westerly winds, during this afternoon a
southwest change pushes northwards along the east coast bringing some cloud and
a few showers some of which could be heavy then clearing later this
evening.
Highs: 23-24

Wellington

Mostly sunny this morning with light westerlies, winds tend southerly this
afternoon with some cloud about.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny this morning with light winds perhaps tending southwest, a few
clouds build this afternoon with the chance of an isolated shower or two then
clearing later on. East to northeast winds after midday for Marlborough, winds
may tend northerly after midday for Nelson otherwise easing from the
southwest.

Canterbury

Periods of cloud and the odd sunny spells, chance of a shower or two mainly
this morning nearer the coast. Southwesterlies.
Highs: 17-18

West Coast

Occasional showers with cool west to southwest winds, showers clear
overnight.
Highs: 17-18

Otago

A few morning showers clear then expect sunny areas and some cloud with
west to southwest winds. A few further showers may move into coastal Otago this
evening.
High: 18

Southland

Sunny areas with westerly winds, a few further showers move through this
afternoon as winds tend southwest then clearing evening.
High: 16-17
