A high sits in the Tasman Sea today while a westerly quarter airflow flows over the country. Most regions are settled with plenty of sun and warm weather, just the far south of the South Island could see a few showers about this morning.

Sunny areas and some cloud, light winds and afternoon sea breezes. Chance of an isolated afternoon shower.

Sunny areas and some cloud, light winds and afternoon sea breezes.
High: 25

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny weather with light winds tending northerly or northwest this
afternoon. Warmer inland.
Highs: 24-26

Waikato

Mostly sunny with light winds tending westerly this afternoon.
Highs: 26-27

Central North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud, light westerly quarter winds.
Highs: 25-26

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with north to northeasterly winds, northwesterlies for the
Wairarapa.
Highs: 26-27

Western North Island

Mostly sunny with northwesterlies tending more westerly this afternoon.
About Taranaki expect westerlies for much of today.

Wellington

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northerly winds.
High: 21

Nelson

Mostly sunny with light winds in the morning then afternoon northerlies,
temperatures warmer inland.

Marlborough

Mostly sunny and hot, northerly winds develop towards midday.

Canterbury
Mostly sunny
this morning with west to northwest winds, winds tend southerly around midday
then move quickly to the east this afternoon bringing a few clouds.

West Coast

Sunny areas and some cloud with west to northwest winds for most. Some rain
about Fiordland moves into South Westland by evening however rain will have
eased to only a few showers.

Coastal Otago

Winds change southwest this morning bringing some cloud and the risk of a
shower, remaining mostly cloudy this afternoon.
High: 21

Central Otago

A few spells of rain possible this morning with northwesterly winds, sunny
spells develop in the afternoon as winds tend southwest. There is the chance a
brief shower or two may continue into the afternoon otherwise mainly dry weather
is expected midday onwards.
Highs: 23-24

Southland

A few morning showers as southwesterlies develop, sunny spells in the
afternoon.
High: 19
