Ex Tropical Cyclone Hola departs moving southeastwards today away from the east of the North Island meanwhile a southwesterly airflow spreads over New Zealand. A southwesterly airflow continues on Wednesday moving around a high centred in the Tasman Sea.

A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, while gales are not looking as likely winds will still be brisk or strong for some regions. The east coast of the North Island sees the best afternoon weather after morning showers clear.

Sunny about Canterbury at first then a southerly change pushes in around midday bringing showers which reach Marlborough in the evening.

Apart from any early clearing showers the North Island has a mainly sunny day on Wednesday, just some cloud at times for western regions north of Taranaki. A few showers pepper the western South Island during the day, morning showers clear Southland. Mostly sunny elsewhere.
