A northwesterly airflow lies over most of New Zealand today, strengthening overnight. The upper North Island has a ridge of high pressure.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mainly sunny weather, a chance of some fog morning and night especially for inland areas. Light winds.
Highs: 13-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny, cloud may be a little more frequent from afternoon. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds tending northwest.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington
A mix of mid and high level cloud, there may be times when skies are mostly cloudy. Breezy northwesterly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud at times, north to northwesterly winds pick up from afternoon.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury
High cloud, there may be a few spots of rain during the afternoon otherwise mainly dry. Northerly winds.
Highs: 12-14

West Coast
Mostly cloudy, rain for South Westland with heavy falls possible. The odd light shower further north from afternoon then heavy rain moves northwards overnight. Increasing north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-13

Southland & Otago
Thick high cloud, a few areas of scattered rain especially in the afternoon then again overnight. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-13
