A ridge of high pressure over the South Island gradually spreads onto the North Island during today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny with light southerly winds, chance of an early clearing shower about western Northland.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Any early showers clear then becoming mostly sunny during the morning. South to southeasterly winds die out in the evening.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island
Early rain eases to showers which clear away during the afternoon (showers may not clear Gisborne till evening), fresh cool southwesterly winds die out later in the evening then cloud breaks away.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington
Any morning showers clear then sunny areas increase, fresh southerly winds ease dying out in the evening.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson
Morning cloud (mainly about Marlborough) otherwise expect sunny conditions, southerlies tend light northerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 12-13

Canterbury
Morning cloud breaks to sunny weather, light winds tend northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 10-12

West Coast
Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, lower level cloud starts to thicken up later in the evening producing a light shower or two overnight. Light winds.
Highs: 12-15

Southland & Otago
Mainly sunny with a touch of high cloud possible after a frosty start, light winds.
Highs: 6-11
