A west to northwest airflow lies over the country today, a front lies over the South Island delivering some rain in the west and a few lighter falls out east. Mainly dry for the North Island although there may be some morning drizzle in the west.

Northland
Sunny area and some increasing high cloud, light west to northwest winds.
Highs: 17-19

Auckland

Cloudy periods with westerly winds, cloud breaking mid to late afternoon
letting some sun in.
Highs: 16-17

Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and some high cloud, westerly winds.
High: 18

Waikato & Central North Island

Cloudy spells with westerly winds, any early morning drizzle clears. A few
sunny spells break through in the afternoon
Highs: 16-17

Eastern North Island

Mainly sunny with some high cloud, light northwesterlies fairly breezy
about the Wairarapa.
Highs: 19-20

Taranaki

Mostly cloudy with west to northwest winds, chance of a drizzle patch
mainly in the morning.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island

Cloudy periods, some morning drizzle clears then mainly dry for the rest of
the day. Northwesterly winds.
High: 17

Wellington

Periods of cloud with brisk to strong northwesterlies.
High: 15

Nelson

Sunny spells and areas of cloud, northwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-19

Marlborough

Sunny areas and some high cloud, northwesterly winds.

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with light winds tending ENE this afternoon, a few light
showers about mainly near the coast and perhaps inland about the
foothills.

West Coast

Cloudy with drizzle turning to periods of rain in the morning, northerly
winds.
Highs: 14

Coastal Otago

Any early rain clears then expect periods of cloud and the odd sunny spell,
light southwesterlies tend northeast in the afternoon.
High: 14

Central Otago

Early rain clears then expect sunny areas and high cloud, northwesterly
winds. Overnight a few further showers develop, mainly in the west to start with
then spreading elsewhere.
Highs: 14-15

Southland

Sunny spells with westerly winds, overnight showers as southwesterlies
freshen.
High: 13
