Cloudy and wet for most

The weather across most of New Zealand today is looking fairly cloudy and wet. Fiordland, Southland and Central Otago however picks up sunny conditions and although they are not the warmest spots currently, temperatures will warm up this afternoon into the late teens / early twenties. The warmest high's at the moment go to Northland where temperatures are peaking around 21 degrees.

Some instability may develop this afternoon / evening for western parts of the North Island, this could lead to a downpour or two and the risk of a thunderstorm.

On Monday rain or showers continue for eastern parts of the country, heavy at times for the eastern North Island. For the western North Island expect a mix of sun, cloud and showers. Thunderstorms have a chance again in the afternoon (a higher chance then today) then easing later in the evening.

Southland looks to be a great spot on Monday with mainly sunny weather, high's in the late teens and light winds.
