Another spring blast is moving in this weekend, mainly Sunday. We'll have extra updates as it moves north.
Any chance of rain today?
It's amazing how quickly the weather can change - and within just a few weeks frequently asked to WeatherWatch.co.nz have gone from "When is it going to stop raining?!" to "Any chance of rain today?".
We've taken a look the latest data and this is what we've come up with for today.
High chance of rain:
We think no where in New Zealand has a high chance of rain today.
Moderate chance of rain:
We think those who live west of the Central Plateau mountains - but not south of them and not west of the Whanganui river - have a moderate chance of some afternoon cloud build ups producing some heavy, but isolated, showers today. Most exposed would be Raetahi, Raurimu and National Park. No significant main centres.
Low chance of rain:
This covers a much broader area. Northland, Auckland, Waikato, South Waikato, Coromandel Peninsula. All of these regions have a low chance of rain (ie, less than 10%). The risk of rain comes from afternoon cloud build ups, mainly near the ranges, producing some isolated downpours in the late afternoon or early evening. There's also a low chance of a shower either morning or late night in Southland.
