A front still lingers over the North Island today however it may be one of the last days for this particular front. About the South Island conditions are generally mostly cloudy in the east with some drizzle possible, mostly sunny in the west after any morning cloud breaks away.

Northern NZ feels like the tropics + Cyclone Gita's possible future track (+10 maps)

The upper North Island is officially wetter than it should be for this time of the year (no kidding!) as humidity up to 100% along with heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms continues today and to a lesser degree on Wednesday.

Water vapour satellite maps show the exceptionally damp airflow connecting to the tropics and even around the area Cyclone Gita is in.

Heavy rain and very high humidity continues to affect the upper North Island with Auckland experiencing some very tropical conditions and thunderstorms also popping up here in there in the upper north.

Where the heaviest rain is going to fall over the next few days (+4 Maps)

Heavy rainfall has been observed in both islands over the weekend, mainly over the central and western North Island and northern South Island. A narrow front lies draped over the eastern Upper North Island for Monday but will become more consolidated on Tuesday as it drifts back west.
